You are going to plan, prepare, and deliver a 10-15 minute presentation to your classmates on the theme of employment.

Now it's your turn to teach us!

Choose a topic:

1. Compare work in Canada and in another country you know well. Tell use about the similarities and differences in hiring practices, work expectations, corporate culture, popular jobs, employment rate, and anything else you feel is relevant.

2. Inform us about an occupation of your choice. Research an occupation that interests you. Tell us about this occupation in Canada. Include the NOC number, the job description and duties, the education requirements, whether it is regulated or unregulated, salary expectations, outlook for the future, related post-secondary programs nearby, and anything else you feel is relevant.

3. Give advice about finding success in the Canadian workplace. Give your classmates specific tips for finding the right job, writing resumes and cover letters, succeeding at job interviews, getting promoted, or any other type of advice related to employment skills. Do not give advice about all these topics - choose only one or two to focus on.

STEP ONE
STEP TWO

Plan your presentation:

Now that you have your topic, BRAINSTORM the points you will include in your presentation. Make a list. What do you already know? What will you need to research?

Once you have some idea of the points you will include in your presentation, make an OUTLINE.

STEP THREE

Prepare your presentation:

  • Conduct research on the web to learn more about your topic and to develop the content of your presentation. After doing some research, you may decide to change or reorganize your outline.

  • Make final decisions about how to organize your presentation. Make sure you include an INTRODUCTION, BODY with main ideas and details, and CONCLUSION.

  • Use                      to design a visual aid for your presentation.
